Default Modding my rocker guards.

Got my JK and love it but have found that most of my family (short fat old, or all three.) have a hard timegetting in even though its stock. I therefore decided to mod the rocker guards and turn them into steps. Hopefully they will retain their functionality and work as steps both. Anyways here is what I came up with so far.

Sorry about the crappy pics, oh well it hides my shoddy welding skills
Im hoping that I can get them powder coated tomorrow. I plan on using some sort of abrasive tape for traction but if anyone has a better idea Im open for suggestions.

I plan on doing something similar. I plan on have a plate bent into an acute angle and welded top and bottom of the rubi rails. Make it similar to a teraflex slider/step

Here are my modified Rubicon rails. 3/16 steel-a little heavy but they take a hit and have plenty of room to stand on. I used POR-15 as a primer and Duplicolor truck bed coat as a non-skid top coat. If I rub some off, a quick dip of the foam paint brush makes it new again.

It would look a little "industrial" but you could just take some expanded metal and weld that down on the surface.

I thought about expanded but thought it would be a pain to get clean and might be prone to rusting as I could never get the coating fully penetrated. Also thought about diamond plate but its pretty worthless once its wet. I threw on some 3M adhesive abrasive for now. Hopefully it will hold up. If not I am gonna try and paint them and throw some sand or blasting abrasive in the mix.
