Default My DIY front & rear bumper pics

Just got done building me a set of bumpers. Used 6 inch channel. 1/4" thick. These things are stout.

Ordered the D-Ring mounts from Cutthroat4x4 Awesome people. Killer product.

They took the time to key the tabs through the 1/2" plates & weld them from the back side as well.

Appreciate that. The only steel I had to buy at the scrap yard was the 6" channel. So 40 bucks for the front & rear.

Her is a close up of the end. I cut up a huge allen wrench & welded it to the bottom. I spaced them so my Hi-Lift Jack would sit in there & not slide off.

These are 1/4" plates I cut out for the push bar mounting plates. I had them on hand.

This is a pic of the winch mount plate that I got when I bought my winch from a neighbor. He sold me his brand new Smittybuilt winch, with 100ft syn line, 2 winch plated, hause fairlead & a cover for 300 bucks.

His Jeep was a TJ & the mount bolted to the top of his frame. I actually could have used his plate in the same manner but wanted my winch to sit much lower. So I cut it up & dropped it 6 inches.

Here it is bolted to the 2.5" channel on the bumper.

So All in all for both bumpers

Steel=40 bucks

Winch=300

Dring mounts, all 4=160 wasn't going to go cheap here. I bought the best I could find

Grade 8 hardware=20

Paint & primer=15

535 bucks for both bumpers & a winch!! Not bad!

Thanks for the kind words Guys!

What did you use to attach the rear bumper to the frame?

I welded three inch channel to the bumper. Two 1/2" grade 8 bolts went through the channel on both sides of the frame.
Two of the D-Ring mounting bolts went all the way through the frame. Also, two 1/2" bolts went from the rear of the hitch to exsisting holes in the frame.
If you need pics let me know.

Here's a pic of the three inch channel bolted in place, prior to welding it to the bumper.

After they were welded on.

Thanks. I really wasn't happy with the hitch so I spent AN HOUR cutting & grinding it off. Then I cut a 2.5x2.5" hole in the face of the bumper & welded a piece of hitch tubing in. Welded front & rear. Very very strong. Then I built a slimmer slider.

Here's the slimmer slider:

Thanks for the kind words Sir.
