Old school tube bumpers on a JK
Anyone got any pics of these old style tube bumpers on a 4door jk?

Never thought I would be considering this but I saw a red one at Bass Pro the other day and kinda liked it. I would like to see other colors and setups. I know there are nicer looking bumpers available but, most are no where near my price range.

I went with a different version of the old faithful tube bumper. Rugged Ridge, I think:
Everybody pretty much thinks that "plate style" (that's what I call 'em anyway ) bumpers look better so that's what they go with. That pretty much explains why I went with something different. The retro aspect is icing on the cake for me.

I've been debating on tube bumpers too. I like the Rugged Ridge ones better because they have the textured black and also have OEM fog light holes. They also seem a bit thicker. I've seen a black JK around my way and it's what keeps considering it but I'm not completely sold either. The price is definitely right though. You could get front and rears for the price of one of the more modern bumpers out there now.

I also like the looks of tube bumpers and thats what I decided to go with. Seems like 90% of the posters on here have modulars and i get bored of looking at them. here is mine.. no front pics because ive been lazy and im waiting for my winch to get here... i also got the rugged ridge rockers.

Awsome looking jeeps fellers! I too am going the tube bumper look. I think they look good. In case the OP or anyone else is interested I found that Collins Bros. Jeep (based out of Texas) has full length ones for a good price. I believe they have a whole package deal (front/rear bumpers and tube side steps) for less than $500 shipped. Black of course but they also have stainless and chrome for a little extra if you like bling. The bumpers are for sale separately for cheap too.
I think the company that makes them are called Black Mountain. They look pretty sweet from the pics they got on their site.
I'll be ordering as soon as summer money comes rolling in.

I read in a 4x4 magazine years ago some guy with a trail dedicated jeep that used his rear tube bumper as his air tank for his on board air compressor. He basically installed a fitting, blew air into it while the bumper was submersed in water to find air leaks. Welded all the places that would leak air then connected the bumper to the compressor and held a lot of air for tires and such. Thought it was a really cool idea. Especially if you are using a JK as a dedicated trail rig.
