Great job, I would have went with black Ive been thinking of doing the same with some of my pieces in gloss black as well. I just think some of the brighter colors or too "In your face" also.

JKLew man that looks sweet, ya nailed it with the pieces ya did, not to much green. Looks like it would of came that way from the factory.

 

I noticed there were a lot of questions about the gauge cluster so i decided to take some pictures today while i tackled it. Not trying to steal the thread, just helping out. Here goes

First, remove the two lower panels. They are just clipped in.



Next, take off the two bolts that hold the gauge surround. There is one on either side of the steering column.


Remove the surround.



Remove the four bolts holding the cluster in place. There is one in each corner.



Pull off the two rubber caps for trip reset and mileage computer temp deal.



Pull cluster back and release plastic clips on clear cover.



Release plastic clips holding trim panel to cluster.



Next I primed and painted the trim panel. It was a little cold so i had to do it inside. You will have to turn the piece over and around to get all the nooks and crannys.



Reinstalled. BTW i used Mopar Jeep green code PGJ



Then i did the vent surround. Hard to see in the light. The color is a little different considering the textured appearance of the interior vs. gloss exterior, but it matches well.

Thanx New-B!! As I'm almost completely mechanically-challenged, I've been waiting for someone to post the step-by-step pics for this!! Now I at least can give it a shot!!

Any preference to the FLAME RED factory paint or off-the shelf red from an auto parts store?

 

You might ask Ben this one, but i know there are many different shades of red. I would order the Mopar paint if you want to be sure it matches. Tell the parts man at you dealer you want your color code red in a small spray can.

 

Got the color-matched paint and used the step-by-step directions posted above and did the gauge surrounds today...what a difference it makes!!

Really looks great, and a breeze to do...I sacrificed one plastic clip end to the Jeep Modification Gods, but other than that, was much easier that I thought it would be.
