Love your setup- With the tires aired down to 26 PSI- do you get any warnings from the Tire Pressure Monitoring System?

I'm not sure what the stock backspacing is...the rims are OEM. The tires measure 285 mm or roughly 11.2 inches. I haven't done any major off roading but in normal driving and the occasional light off-road situation I haven't had any rubbing at all.

This setup leaves the tire completely inside the fender well

I have 17x8 and Mickey thompson 32.8 x12.5 and for some reason I was only getting 11.5 city and 14.3 highway and when I put my stock wheel/tire back on It went back to 15 to 16 city........

I am not complaining just asking for your observations?????????????? :yup:

How are you getting such awful MPG, i can get 24 mpg on the highway if i run about 2,500 rpm's before shifting.

Anybody got 285's on the 17x7.5 stock Rubicon Wheels??? Any rubbing???

itsajeepthing 05-10-2008 09:32 AM

So from the looks of things here. A 33x12.50x20 would fit pretty well. I see most people running 33x12.5 are running between 4.5 and 4.75 backsapce.and they stick out about 1/2 inch

The rockstars I want are 5.1 backspace. So the 20x8.5 rockstars with 33x12.50x20 should fit nice, just about flush with fender, maybe out a little bit.?

It's amazing to me how much bigger these JK's are....you could barely fit 31's on the TJ without a lift!

In order to have 33's with no lift and not rub is an simple as getting a rim that has a offset between -8mm to -12mm and it will be safe. For instance 33x12.5 with a 17x9 rim with a -12mm offset will have no rub but with a 2" to 2.5" sticking out of the fender. Looks very aggressive and with no rubbing. This works for 07-10 jk.

You will rub disco'ed and full flex on your rear fender flares with 33x12.50's. If you are considering any flexing look at a 2" BB to avoid rubbing or chop your flares.

IcyFridge 04-14-2010 07:03 AM

Updated picture when clean! And after some miles have been put on the tires.

2" BB coming soon.

I just got the Skyjacker 2" Budget Boost. I rode with my 305s for about 6mos and only rubbed twice, no matter how hard I tried. The 305s work out to about a 33 X 12.00 though.

Here is my 2010 JK Sport, with no lift and stock steelies. My brother gave me a set of 285x75x16 Uniroyal Liberator A/T's that he took off of his Dodge truck. He mounted and balanced them for me, just to see if they fit. My stock steelies are 16x7 with 6 inches of back spacing. I am not running spacers at all... but, at full lock, they rub up front. Not bad, but I would not run this tire / wheel combo if they were more aggressive.

This set up is VERY temporary.

My plans are... 33x12.50x15 BFG M/T KM2s on some black Cragar steelies. Gonna run a 4 inch BS and be done with it. I don't think I am gonna add a lift yet, but I will be putting some Poison Spyder Custom Flat Flares on the front and back. This should give me more than enough room for what I do with this Jeep. This is my daily driver, and right now, I just don't wanna get too crazy with it. Mine is the Automatic with 3.73 gears. As it is, with these tires, my Jeep runs fine. No wandering on the road, does supurb in the rain, and I can't REALLY tell a difference in power loss by the butt dyno.

It did ok in the sand, but these tires are not aggressive.

Anyway, here she is with stock steelies and no lift.

Cheers!

I have a 2007 JK, 2 door.

I'm about to purchase a set of ATX Assault 17x8 wheels, 5.47 backspacing and +25mm off set.

I want to know if i can run 285/70R17's with no lift or spacers?? Do you think i will have rubbing issues? What are your thoughts?
