Default Powder Coat or DIY?

I am having a custom front winch bumper made as we speak. Do I have it powder coated or should I use something off the shelf? I am in Maine and it will take some abuse with dirt, rocks and salt in the winter.

If it were me I would go with the powder coat. Better coverage and much tougher.

I had mine powder coated, and when I scratch it up I leave the scratches or brush on some Rustoleum.

Make sure they sand blast the inside and outside, powder coat the inside too, and tape any threads (for nuts/bolts) so they don't get powder coated.

Double or triple coat of POR15 then a double coat of one of their topcoats. Unbelievably hard stuff, and it bonds to the metal. Powder coats are great until they start chipping.
