Default Rubicon Express 2 inch BB

I finally installed my lift. As you can see by the title I went with the Rubicon Express 2 inch BB lift. It took me much longer than other members had reported. I realize I’m a shade tree mechanic at best but I ran into a couple of small snags while doing the rear shocks and coil spring spacers. The replacement upper shock bracket u-holes were smaller than the shock bolts. I chose to drill the new bracket on my drill press to fit the bolts, but you can use the stock brackets as well. The passenger side rear wheel sensor wire holders had to be removed from the frame to allow the axle to be lowered enough to remove and install the coil. Removing the holders is simply done with an interior accessory panel tool. During reassembly you just snap the holders back in place.

I want to thank JK-Forum for the 2.5” Terra Flex write-up. Rubicon Express instructions were basic and did not have the detail of your write-up.

All said and done I love the why my JK looks and rides with the Rubicon Express 2 inch BB lift.

Same lift i have at home awaiting install. It will be some time before i can get new rubber, so trying to hold off on installing it, though my tools do get a mind of their own from time to time...

I see the front looks a tad high in your pics, did you drive it about at all to let it settle in?

Did your Jeep have a noticable rake from the factory? Mine did not at first, but it settled in more and is now quite pronounced.

I know the spacers are different heights to level that rake (Which is why i chose this particular BB over the others available) But what was your net lift? did you do before after measurements?

What did those Wranglers run you?

You are correct the front is higher. I haven’t driven it far enough to let it settle and the 3 ½ ton floor jack is in the back (that thing is heavy). I will be adding a new bumper and winch in the future which will add a lot more weight to the front. So I’m kind of glad it’s a little high. You can see the difference in the spacers. Based on what other members say on this forum Rubicon Express wanted to level out the factory rake.

I bought the tires used with only 25% - 30% life left on them from a local 4 wheel drive forum. They came of an F-250 and I couldn’t bet the $40 price for all four tires. It cost me more to have them mounted and balanced but they will get me buy until I can save up some cash to get new. I figure I’ll use one of them for a spare which will save me from buying five tires.

Here is what it looked like before the lift.

I am a little concerned the kit did not come with shock boot nor did the instruction state to add them. Anyone have pro and cons on whether or not I should add them?

Shock boots are bad. I have always cut mine off. They trap mud and dirt and in no time your shock shafts will rust. No boot is good.

That is actually the news i was hoping for, i plan on replacing the front bumper with a stubby/semi stubby in the future (was going to do it now, but the washing machine exploded), I didnt want to get into stacking spacers to get it level again after adding weight, so i was hoping it might wind up slightly nose high for now.

I have looked around tire shops for some decent used take offs, but no one has 17's available at the moment.

Cool I appreciate the feed back. I assumed if Rubicon Express didn't include them I didn't need them but I wanted to be sure.

Mine came with shock boots already on the new shocks.
Did you order new shocks or just the spacer kit?
