How is the Rubicrawler compared to a complete Atlas transfer case? I'm guessing the Atlas just give you more and lower gearing choices but with a more difficult install? Has anyone here had experience with both?

No, this was super simple. The stock knob just pushes on (it's NOT threaded). All I did was match the thread size to the stick and ran a tap down inside the knob as far as I could. No drilling at all just ran the tap down inside the knob.

If I remember right the shifter knob from Mopar was like $13......

I don't have a photo of the shifter knobs from the top down right now. The clearance is about one inch, maybe a inch and a eighth. I know it does'nt sound like much, but I have had no issues shifting it at all todate.

My first day off is Thur. will try to post a photo then.

No it doesn't. Reuses the transfer case shift cable. I used a 3/16" "E" clip and a washer after grinding off the plastic clip on the shift cable end. I got the clip in a variety pack of them at Kragen Auto.

This is the time to put in that fix as you have access.

Yes, signup for their email notices. Last year they had limited time discounts. I got mine with the control module which is very worth while on a Rubicon, the shifter kit and 4 quarts of tranny fluid and a trans filter for a little over $1800. If you go with the standard shifter setup you can save a 100 bucks. I didn't use the filter after all, too lazy to pull the trans pan and dump the rest of the fluid. Still needed the fluid though.

Absolutely love it. It has really exceeded what I expected from it. In low low 2nd gear it is so much smoother crawling over big rocks. I cruise the trails in 2w rubi low which is just right and I can disconnect my electronic sway bar and lock my lockers if I want.

What kind of work area did you have? Shop or garage or yard?
