Default Snapped brand new Spydura winch cable

Well, I'm just thankful I'm able to write this to you all as a show & tell. Took the wife, kids, and Jeep ORV camping this weekend out in Naches, WA and we were almost left there. The spring snow melt caused us to get in a real tight spot...so tight that I thought my winch (Warn Zeon 10S) was going to have to save us. Unfortunately, right when I needed it my line broke and I'll have to admit, I got a bit concerned we'd be stuck for a while. If it weren't for a few guys that happened to have their Polaris side-by-sides having some fun in the same area...I really don't know what would've happened.

The pics are what is left of one half of my line. The other half is still in the wench and waiting for me to take off my bumper to get to it. This was a close call for me and the fam...it just sucks the line you trust your life to can snap right when you need it!

Glad to be home!!

That's terrible. Glad you got out. Was it rubbing on anything? How old is the line?

Brand new line on a brand new winch that got upgraded this year. This was on our third pull of the day. Other than pushing aside a tree branch or two, nothing rubbing on where the line snapped.

You need to learn how to splice winch line.

Second you need more options for recovery gear, example I also carry a 8,000 come along for the just in case stuff.

Amen to that! I even told my wife that there was a thread on here about splicing winch line that I wish I had printed out and carried with us. I was also kicking myself for not bringing extra rope and my hi-lift. (I'm a dummy) Lessons learned....the hard way lol. In any case, anyone have a recommendation for my synthetic line replacement?

That is crazy, i would recommend sending that back so the company could take a look at it. They may refund you or send a new one out. This could help then find a flaw, i have abused the crap out of mine and haven't had any issues.

Masterpull. Spendy but it's the best.
Plus, they're a local company. Monroe I believe.

I love the Naches area! Will be spending lots of weekends there this summer.

That's odd, it must have been stressed by something. Brand new and only used a few times just doesn't add up. While certainly something a user could cause I'm sure if you contact Warn you might find them as shocked.

Right on! We will most definitely be going back...maybe in a month when the rest of the snow is gone. I'm sure you know where HWY-410 is...there's a 27 mile half loop off Maloy Rd that hits NF-1701 where's there's some pretty sweet off-road excursions. We met our end this weekend though when we tried the trail between 1701 that connect with NF-114. We were happy to see we weren't the only ones that hit some dead-ends. Melting snow drifts cut our trip short half-way...but I'll be damned if I'm not going back soon to finish the trail!

I've attached a satellite pic of the trail that we WILL finish very soon
