Default Solution to rear seat incline adjustment

I was wheeling yesterday with the family and my 13 year old sat in the back for awhile (he's 6'0). He was none to happy about how the rear seat was shaped. It really is in an upward position. I think it needs to be reclined a little bit. I know this has been covered before but I took some 1/2 inch billet aluminum I had in the shop and made 7 small spacers. You could use a lot of differnet materials but thats what I had.

I took the 4 bolts out of the front mounts of the rear seat. Next I used some bungee chords to hold the front of the seat up against the back. This is the only way you can get to the back bolts under the lower seat. You will need to take those bolts out as well.

Next you will need to loosen the far back seat bolts just to take the pressure off the brackets. I simply placed the spacers under the brackets and tightened them down.

Bolts are plenty long and they are extremely tight. You will need a big socket wrench or an impact wrench. The original angle in the center of the back seat was 18.5 degrees, and when it was finished it was 22.5 degrees. That is enough the make a difference. If you take the time to elongate the lower back holes, you could go back further.

don't really know why you guys need pictures. All he did was put washers/spacers under the front mounts after he loosened the back ones enough to tilt the seat back.

I don't really have pictures of this. There are 7 bolts under the seat, 4 in the front and 3 on the hinges. They all need to be removed and spacers added. There are some bolts behind the seats that need to be loosened to allow the seats to tilt back. It's pretty simple, just grab a wrench and give it a try!

You say 1/2" billet. So did you make 1/2" spacers? If you were to do it again, do you think you would use the same thickness or go a little thicker?
