Default Some different '08's...

I was passing by a Jeep dealer in MO and saw four Unlimiteds on the lot. The one in front is a silver 4x4 and they added $7,200 for the ProComp 3" Lift, with wheels/33x13" Toyo A/T tires and "Bling" chrome package. The second one was a Khaki hardtop Sahara with the silver bumper pieces. It looked mismatched. See for yourself: They also had a Flame Red Rubi Hardtop Unlimited and a couple 2-doors.

The silver bumper section is standard for the 08's

say it ain't so...since i think it looks horrible in anything but a black or silver jeep.
I'll be lookin to paint it or trade with someone if that's the case.
edit: i just went to the jeep site. i think it's standard on the Sahara only.

It's only on the '08 Sahara. It looks weird, khaki top, black body/fenders and silver bumper pieces.

The silver piece on the bumper seems to be removable. it's just like a cover over the bumper with some bracket on the back....

Yes, they are removeable. The front is easily removed, but the rear appears to be a little more difficult as you have to remove the bumper to get it off. I'm going to try painting it Jeep Green when it comes in to see how it looks. If it looks like crap, I'll just remove them.

haha my Jeep was one of those "promo" jeeps. Its an 07X and the ONLY options it had was the good speakers system, tow hooks, foglights, AC and auto trans. I still have manual windows/locks and no cruise. BUT then they had a 2.5" BB and 35" tires and the sticker was $26,900 for that... I got a lot of with my discount but i was amazed on the price hike for 2 little mods. The BB wasnt even done right, did not have longer sway links and it had the stock shocks and no shock extension brackets

Pro Comp doesn't make a 3" lift.

They make 2 Versions of a 4" kit though

I just got done taking my front and rear silver bumper pieces off of my Red Rock Sahara.

Front was super simple using a T20 torx bit on my socket wrench. Take out the top and bottom screws and it comes right off.

For the rear, I debated long and hard on whether or not to take the rear bumper all the way off. Since I am lazy, I opted instead to use the same T20 torx bit and remove the 4 bottom screws.

I then lifted the silver panel up and slowly pulled starting at one end. Putting tension slowly on each screw, they came off quite easily. The silver plastic is not very tough and it tears right through the pre-drilled holes since they are so close to the edge of the silver piece. The top screws are still in the bumper but you cannot really see them because they are behind the lip.

Since I went slow and careful, I could even put this silver thing back on if I wanted to. The holes are still structurally there but just tore through on the outside edge. I would definitely have to remove the rear bumper to put it back on though.

This is just an option if you don't feel like taking the bumper off. I was by myself and wasn't sure if I would be able to put the bumper back on easily with no help.

I think they call that grey palstic piece the urban bumper protector used for pushing shoping cards out of the way at the grocery store...
