We changed the front axle from the Dana 30 to the Dana 44 w/ locker. The Spin Tecks allow you to disconnect the wheels from the front axles, improving gas mileage, less wear on the drive train, and the most important they are stronger than the stock unit bearing!
It also becomes the weak point in the axle. This is not all bad. I said weak point, not weak. In other words, the hub will break before something on the axle or in the differential. This makes it easier to fix or just keep going until you can fix it. Pull out the internals, slap in new internals. This was quite normal years ago when pretty near all 4wd's had locking hubs.
A few months ago the hubs were about $1500 for both.

If your going 60's you'll have to go 5x5.5 anyhow..
Solid's making adapter plate for the tire carrier to go with the kit.
I ended up selling my 5x5 rims, and buying a set of 5x5.5. I didnt have that much in the rims after I sold mine.I swapped in superior shafts in my 44. So I'm 5x5.5 all around now..
