Default Star Fabricating Napa Leather Seat covers

Last weekend I installed my leather seat covers and I could not be happier.
The quality and fit is amazing. I highly recommend them to anyone considering going with leather. It's more of a Mercedes S class/ Bentley type feel. I did the install myself over 2 days.

Troy from star fabricating is really a great guy. I can't say enough positive things about him, his product or support.
Shipping was fast I had these in my hands one week after they were ordered.

Did you have to take the seats out of the jeep to install them?

The front seats only have to come out of the jeep. The rear bottom cushion gets uninstalled from the seat frame and the rear back stays in place. If you don't have heated seats now is a great time to install that as well. Also not too hard.

I've never done a upholstery job like this before and I learned a lot. It's was a lot of work but it was well worth it.

This is a link to an install guide it to give you and idea of what needs to be done.

I purchased the wrong sized hog rings and pliers. So I used zip ties. You just rotate the head of the tie into the cushion after it's tight.

In the guide he removed the headrest button/insert with his fingers. I don't know how he did that, he must be superman. I actually used 2 long boxed end wrenches in place of fingers and pulled them out.
Still difficult but can be done. Troy told me afterwords he rolls up the seat cover exposing the seat frame and uses a hammer to tap them out. Much easier I wish I asked him first.

Also if your seats have airbags you have a few extra steps as well.
First you have to disconnect your battery before you unplug the airbag connector. The wire leading to the air bag has 2 grommets attaching it to the seat frame. They must be removed to free the wire.
This all needs to done before you separate the back from the bottom. The airbag is held to the seat and seat cushion with 2 10mm nuts. You have to uninstall it from the frame to get the seat cover on and off.

The big handle gets unbolted.

Anyone can do it. Just keep in mind your rolling the seat covers on and off. It's like a condom.... Lol .you take the new seat cover inside out and you roll it down the seat. And the uninstall is the reverse you roll it up.
