Swapping to 4.0 would be a complete was of your time with minimal gain for the time and $$ you put into it. Just put a supercharger in. If your thinking about getting a 4.0 youd also have to get a new tranny aswell

Not much of an engine expert, but the 3.8L did come out of Chryslers mini vans.... So why wouldn't the 4.0 version of the caravan work in the jeep? Comes from the same thing, right? I'm just confusing myself, and probably others :-)

Some parts are the same, but the minivan version is a transverse design, whereas the JK has a longitudinal design. the oiling and engine mounts (among other things) are different.

is this even a real question? I do wonder how someone that seems to think that a tj and a jk are the same, could actually do an engine swap

This is the route I would take is getting a RIPP supercharger for the 3.8 over replacing with a 4L I6 much cheaper option and much less build time with more power!

There is a 4.0 v6 option in the Dodge Nitro AWD also but I believe it is backed with the German 5-speed auto the W5a580 transmission. The Liberty (same chassis) has the 3.7 with our 42RLE 4-speed auto. My guess is they will not interchange though. Opinions ?

Just throwing it out there.

Forgive me for coming off a bit harshly before. I was just a bit flabbergasted by the question.

The 3.8 makes more HP & torque almost everywhere. Its more compact & fuel efficient. Just seemed like a very silly question. I do apologize.
