Tailgate Kit released!
If I remember correctly, the logo he used, is a modified logo that is meant to represent the new JK front end. This is his own one off design, and personally, I think he did a great job on the design.
I would have really liked to see factory hood hinges used though....
Those look kinda like the hinges on the gate to my backyard.

I am not sure how well that would work with aftermarket tire carriers (though you would have to use one). the way the rear door is now, if the carrier starts to swing closed it will bump the door and push it along. If the same happens with that kit you have a dent in the tailgate, possibly enough of one to cause it to not be able to close. You would have to open the carrier the full 90 degrees and make sure it stays there. It seems like alot of trouble for the small added utility of the tailgate.
Also it looks like you do not get the uility of the vent in the back which is nice if you use the ventelation system while the windows are up.

following the thread closely, the guy has stated it will take a bunch of weight.....pictures have him, his wife and his kid sitting on it....so I am thinking it is pretty stout.
Yes you do need an aftermarket tire carrier obviously...
Honestly, I like the idea of skinning and making the whole back smooth, although this is a lot more inexpensive.....
You can google jk drop down tailgate kit for more info.
