after reading several posts about denied warranty claims i would wager that the info in the ecm is being used against the owners . the ecm could detail throttle position , whether 4wd was engaged and engine speed up till the time a signal from the abs sensor was lost or went out of range , specifically in the case of broken axles . already , if there is an accident , the ecm records a snapshot of braking position, vehicle and engine speed and also pitch and yaw whenever esp is involved . most states do not allow this in court as far as i know , but i would bet it is used to deny claims . i was a heavy truck mechanic for years and last had dealings with 2010 models and i know this info was used to nail drivers all the time . just a heads up for the late model jeepers . the black box knows all !

 

I didn't think it was that intuitive. I can't even get my jeep to one-touch roll up my windows but it's able to get all of that data instantly during an accident? Damnit.

 

i assure u it can do that and more , im sure there are many parameters that can only be unlocked by the dealer or manufacturer. it truely is a black box
