trying to decide on a front bumper
I love the new LOD stubby with stinger than WOL had on his Jeep at SEMA this year:

I went with the Shrockworks. The disadvantages are the wait--which you may
be able to mitigate by ordering from Screamin' Lizard--and that you have to
pay for it up front (not sure about Screamin' Lizard's policy on payment).
However, this is the best JK bumper, bar none. You can select from several
different finishes (most other bumpers are the krinkle finish, which I don't
particularly care for). You can add various options (grill hoop, winch hoop,
etc), and select three different sizes (stubby, mid-width and full-width). It has
a great position for mounting the Warn PowerPlant winch (most bumpers have
that huge winch sticking way up in front of the grill), and you can order a cover
plate to mask that big hole on top until you do get the winch. It also comes
with a lower skid plate--no extra purchase required. Compared to the LOD,
which is another nice product, the winch hoop is much beefier and, IMHO, looks
better proportioned on the JK. Finally, some of the bumpers have fog light holes
for the stock fog lights (or you can add after-market lights of your chosing).

Here's my mid-width ...
I think that mid-width is a good choice on rigs that see both DD use and reasonably technical trail use.
Full-width is good if you need a lot of protection up front (driving a lot of back roads at night, or you use your bumper to break trail in the trees
)
Stubbies do look good, but you may want to think twice about giving up the coverage unless you really need the approach angle.
Winch hoops look good on most rigs, and also provide a bunch of extra protection for your winch, and possibly for your rad too.
Stingers...look great on rigs that are BUILT. 37's, flat fenders, tons of suspension travel. If you put them on a 4 door that's on 33 inch AT's with a body lift, it does sorta shout "poser".

also, a shout out for the 'cans' on my Mopar bumper. for a DDer, they are key! I mentioned that I bumped someone in traffic at a light (HARD!) & NO DAMAGE resulted! equally important those cans will protect my winch when I get one.
