Well for yours you would defiantly be best off painting when the differential is not attached to the vehicle since you need to get it resealed anyways. You'll need some strong grease/wax removers as it looks to be covered pretty good. I would also probably take some fine grit sandpaper to the cover to get it down to bare metal if possible. I used four coats of VHT High Heat Caliper paint and two coats of High Heat Clear. Make sure to spray the coats really really light as you don't want to to run and what not and waiting 12 min between each color coat and 30 min between each clear coat. The LoD Rock Sliders had the gaps wrong. About a 1/4 inch gap on the center mount between frame and slider mount (when mounted with lower bolt thru the transfer case skid hole as it should be). So I need to get a piece of plate for that gap. Re-drilling the lower hole can't work because the front and rear and nearly flush - altho they're a little off but not much. I think I'll have the shop that's going to install my Long Arm lift put them on since they may need some tweeking with the lift anyways. I was hoping to bolt them on but since they may need to be cut and re-shaped they may have to be welded.

I used Rustoleum Bed Liner for the painting/rustproofing. The interior of the fenders are painted/lined as if I wasn't using any liners at all. Hand brushed exterior facing and sprayed inside - everything should be protected and sealed quite nicely.

The Rugged Ridge liners won't accommodate the ribbing on the front wheel well (different in 2012?) plus they mount in the holes where the stock fender goes. In other words they won't work with a stock (cut) fender and still allow the fender to mount flush.

The sliders would fit fine with washers and a spacer but not going to mess with it that much since will probably need tweeking with the Long Arms anyways.

I have installed sliders a couple times before....

They all leak, it's just a matter of time. While you are planning on doing this, you might want to look into lube lockers when you do so. They make maintenance a lot easier. Painting the cover works well as does purchasing new covers if you wheel a lot. Here's a shot of mine front + rear with lube lockers:

5 Tire rotate, moved frame side front track bar bolt up 1.5" to better clear diff cover, got dirty and lost a hydro assist fitting on the trail. Steering bleed to death. Good times.

installed an AFE sealed air intake kit. Noticed some improvement in throttle response.
