What was done to your JK this week?
Added Smittybilt front and rear XRC Armor. I'd have to say though that i'm not impressed with Smittybilts engineering. Holes in the fenders had to be drilled that were shown in the directions but not drilled in the fenders. This sucked because it was then exposed and not powder coated and need to be painted. The original powder coating rubbed off in many places during shipping, this required the entire finders to be painted because it just didn't look good. Nutserts were cheap (3 stripped) and the included tool was also very cheap (broke after 3 uses but thank God a better one came with the front fenders). One hole was in such a bad position that I had to drill the hole larger just to get the bolt through. Weather stripping was great, if they gave you enough. Had to go to lowes and get more. No instructions on removing the old fenders, your on your own there. It was not a happy experience and after notifying Smittybilt on their website, i've gotten no reply at all.

I love the look of this product but I don't think i'm going with any more smittybilt products.

Don't get me wrong, i'm glad I got them but the install was a pain and didn't seem like Smittybilt cared weather you had a problem or not. If you do get them, let me know and i'll do a little write-up of the issues and what I did to fix it.

You need a stubby front bumper now, your Jeep looks like it has wings. Fenders look good though!

I didn't do anything to my JK this week, but I lost my father on Monday. My dad had an old rag top TJ and used to bring me around the neighborhood when I was younger and let me shift gears. When I was older I told my dad I wanted a jeep and he jumped at the idea and we bought an 07 JK 2 door brand new off of the lot. I've been building it ever since and he was soon after diagnosed with cancer and given 4-6 weeks to live. My dad fought hard and lived for 2 years and 3 months or so. I never got to take my dad on a trip offroad or for a ride with the top and doors off as I knew he would have loved. I took a ride in his memory with the jeep naked and remembered what he shared with me as a kid. I cannot cry any more, but now I just smile at what he shared with me and my mom. He was a wonderful person and the best dad a kid could ask for. Please keep my family in your prayers. Rest in peace dad, I love you.
