Nice and bright!

What rear bumper is that? I like the mid/small width with the additional (wraparound) tubes. First time I've seen that.

Default Tactik HD Hinge & Tire Mount

Mounted my Tactik HD hinge and tire mount kit.
Very well packaged, no damage at all.
Looks very stout, and not much different from my neighbors TF hinge.
Very easy install, took about an hour and a half 'cause I took the time to paint the unpainted spots under the factory hinge. The only problem with the kit, is the upper screws for the third brake light are about 3/4" too long. Just shortened them with a Dremel. With my AEV wheels, I slid the tire mount in as far as it would go, and it was perfect. The sidewall is tight against the hinge on the passenger side, and the stock bumper on the drivers side. The spare sits 2-7/8" higher than it did on the stock carrier.
Took it up a potholed up rough road, and no more banging tailgate !
I got a super deal on this from Quadratec/Rick, and smoking fast delivery as always.

Question: your 2nd pic - with the hinge swung out by itself - is that how it also works when the tire is mounted?

Thanks, super popular smittybilt SRC rear bumper, it's the first gen. I think they come with light mounts now.

No, that was during the installation.
The hinge is bolted to the tailgate like the stock hinges, and the carrier also bolts to the hinge on the right side, and the gate on the left side.
When completed, the gate opens just like stock.

Thanks for the info and quick reply.

Also "I'll be damned" because no matter how often I've ever looked at all (I mean all) current bumpers I've never noticed that round tube combo. And I really like it. I blame smitty's photographers in marketing

It def does appear the current gen is same/similar.

Very nice.

Perfect explanation. Thank you very much.
