What was done to your JK this week?
how bad is the boot? i just used zip ties to re-secure the boot. to keep crap from getting in there. i have heard of/seen pics of driveshafts taking out transfer cases if bad enough, but i think that is pretty uncommon. plus, i think you'd start feeling something before it got that bad.
On my first trip out, I bent one of the clamps on the rear drive shaft but the boot was ok, so I used zip ties until I got my hands on a replacement clamp. That's all fine.
On this , my second trip out, I did actually tear that boot on the tranny pan. I checked this morning and see where contact was made. The boot was flopping on my floor boards, so I cut it off entirely.
My concern now is that I see how the driveshaft can easily tear up the tranny pan lip!
I have the 2.5" coil lift from TF with shock extensions. I went outside this morning and looked... just as you said, the front driveshaft made contact with the tranny pan edge.
So I guess I need to get a DS so that I don't tear open the tranny pan!
I bet it happened right here. I mean, check out that flex!

I thought you do not need a new drive shaft when you only go 2.5" on a Unlimited! (I got 3" of actual lift in the front, 2" in the rear. Just FYI.)

Which adjustable track bar is good for this setup? I'll do some searching...
I'm running an adjustable track bar with the axle centered and it still hit. It evidently hits pretty bad. I only went about 4 feet with the sway bar disconnected and it put a deep groove in the driveshaft. So I'm thinking it wouldn't take much to destroy the transfer case that way. I've seen it happen before and it's UGLY. I doubt it would contact with the swaybar still connected. If it does then you probably have some axle centering issues to deal with. Without that boot though, its not going to last long. The grease will attract dirt and chew it up quick. Plus, most of the grease will sling off. Pull off the front shaft and order a new one. You can run two wheel drive on the street and wont need it.

Sorry the picture sucks........
