Just my opinion. For the wheeling you describe....if you put on "c" gussets, sleeve it and have someone knowledgable weld the axle tubes to the housing you'll be fine for many years with 37s. I did exactly the same to my old JKUR and ran it as you describe for 4 yrs without issues at all before I sold it for my 2015. Some on here will advise to skip the sleeves and instead truss the front axle. ???

You'll be fine. Everyone thinks these front housings are made of glass.

C-gussets & sleeves are cheap. I wouldn't worry about the front end for regular trail riding like you described. You'll wear out your stock steering components quicker so that's something to be aware of that.

But remember anything can break, just wheel smart.

It's very subjective as there's a lot you gotta consider. Some wheel built 44s and blow them up, others go years with out issue so it all depends. I've been running 37s for the last 25k miles and i have upgraded to everything synergy from the very beginning. All I've done to my rubi axles is gussets and a hd artec track bar bracket. Stock balljoints are still tight surprisingly, it's all about how you wheel I choose to pick my line and avoid wheel spin but I'm not easy on them. These axles aren't made of glass like everyone seems but they're not bulletproof either.

I agree.

I live right next to AEV and talk to the guys all the time. They say it's very rare they see issues with their Jeeps being used as they're designed in the overland arena.

I'm sure bouncing off rocks is a whole other thing...then yes, I'd be upgrading for sure

Thanks for all the replies. I guess it's going to come down to garage height, that's why I went with the 3.5 AEV to begin with. Living in my area I need to keep it in the garage if I want the Jeep to stay somewhat nice.
After my lift and with stock rubicon tires it looks like I have 7"s of clearance left to work with. If I go 37" I think I will go BFG since they run a little shorter than most plus they only weigh about 2 mores lbs than the 35" duratracks I was looking at. This would probably put me slightly more at ease than some super heavy Toyos or similar.
I know in the end it comes down to how I drive and living here in IL means my only real off-road is when I take vacation. Thanks again for the thoughts.

37" Nitto's on 1.75" front coil spacers and .75" rear coil spacers. Will eventually have 2.5" Metalcloak or RK parts. I did very generous pinch seam cutting in the front and rear of the wheel wells in the back, and can stuff the 37 up to the top of the wheel well and not rub the pinch seams.
