What's the point of going without? No protection and looks naked with nothing there

When I read the lead I thought there was no way I'd say with but it looks complete with. Without it looks like it needs something. Either trim the fenders to make it look like there isnt a hole there or put em on til you fill the space. IMO

Just my opinion. I ran Sahara steps for awhile and every time I stepped up to my rig, they bugged the heck out of me. The only reason I kept them on was for my wife and daughter to get into the back seat.

I just think not having them on at all looks a lot tougher, but would suck if you go wheeling or get broadsided. In those cases, maybe stick with those garish steps. Still, if I wasn't married, those steps would have never made it on my Jeep. Thank goodness for my new ACE rock rails!

So you would rather have zero protection for the body than something? Have you ever even driven over a rock or stump that if hit the wrong way could damage the body?

I had the Mopar plastic steps and all they did was get the back of my pants dirty. I like the stock Rubi rails they fill the gap nicely. I don't care for any of the steps. If I could afford the LoD sliders I would get them.

Ive seen steps snag and damage the body. i think its 50/50 if they provide protection or possibly cause damage. i removed mine, with the bedlined rocker the jeep looked taller without the steps. Now i run LOD rock sliders and sold the steps on craigslist to help fund the rock sliders.

Ryan, man. Gotta read what I wrote. I said "but would suck if you go wheeling or get broadsided. In those cases, maybe stick with those garish steps".

I wouldn't wheel without side protection. And I've wheeled with the steps before. They get beat up pretty good - they're basically blocks of plastic and foam with a few pieces of steel at the hard-points.

BUT... if you don't wheel, I think your JK will look better without them. My opinion. No one else's.

Exacto. My old sahara steps actually gave my rocker panel a nice shiner simply from it being turned inside from a rock hit. The damage might have been worse without it, but just saying.

ACE rock rails are different because they actually mount to the frame only, and at the body attachment points. So any hit you take goes to the frame, not the body.

My ACE rails should arrive tomorrow and I've left mine on. Luckily they haven't been damaged while off road yet, so when the rails get here, off go the steps and on to Craigslist they go.
