You don't have to, but the stabilizer location makes it susceptible to damage. 4XFIX's relocation kit moves it up and out of harms way.

I Love this site, I was under my jeep lastnight (just got it sat) and saw how that canister is going to be a BIG problem. Got online today looking for a solution, saw the skid plate but wasn't liking that idea much. Searched here and found Woods! Waiting for a replay from him to get a kit.

I saw this mentioned somewhere. Is it true?

 

A right angle or compact drill makes the install easier. If you have a larger drill, you may need to lift your JK with a jack and jack stands to create some more room between the axle and the floor of the JK. I have not heard from any customers that this was a problem.

 

I didn't have any problem with my regular drill but had the jeep on jackstands while i worked underneath. This is the best kit out there.

 

I put mine on today. Took just under a couple hours. Very easy to do and I think its great kit!
