Default 08 Wrangler X ?

Hi eveyone,

I am about to purchase my first ever Jeep Wrangler. I have done some research but I can not find the answer to my question. Maybe you all can help.

I have found 2 Wranglers that I like. One with Option 1 the other with 2.

Option 1 16" Styled Steel Wheels
P225/75R16 BSW On-/Off-Road Tires

Option 2 P255/75R17 OWL On-/Off-Road Tires
Heavy-Duty Suspension with Gas Shocks
17" x 7.5" Aluminum Wheels

So, how much better is it to get the Option 2 than 1. Is the Suspension that much different with Option 2 than 1?

I do not plan to do any serious off-roading. I simply like the wheels and stance of Option 2.

Can't I just buy the Option 2 Wheels and put them on a Jeep with Option 1?

I think the "Option 2" wheels/tires are a big improvement over the smaller wheels, makes the Jeep look much more balanced. And yes, you can simply find a set of wheels elsewhere and add them on, that is what I did. My JK had every option I was looking for, except for the 17" wheels, so I bought them off eBay and put them on.

If you do this it will throw off your speedometer a little, but you can have the dealer reflash for the 255's if it bothers you.

are you talking about the B package (option 1) vs the S package (option 2) on the X? if so, the S package adds more than just the bigger tires and shocks, so make sure you check out the exact stuff included.

Yep, you can add the wheels you want...that's what I did. I got the "B" package (probably option 1), and swapped the wheels and tires with better ones.

EXACTLY!!!! Read your window sticker REAL close IF IF it is the "S" package you get ALOT of real nice goodies that I would recommend over the "B" package ......and the "S" package you can always get more aggressive tires for the look and no reprogramming to alot for tire size

Make sure you get the Dana 44 rear end. Get the tow package. You don't want the dana 35 rear end.

They haven't come with the D35 in quite some time...they all have the D44 rear now.
