2 door or 4 door ?
Hi,
The long waiting for the "D" day is giving me more and more dilemmas...
Should I pick the 2 door Wrangler or 4 door Wrangler Unlimited body style?
Mostly it is gonna be my DD but on weekends I want to "get dirty".
Size is not that important (girls think different), but our family is 2 adults and medium size dog.
I want to get from you some pros and cons ???
Thank You.

Get the 4DR. You lose just a bit in breakover & turning radius, but not much.
Your dog will appreciate the extra space, as will you on camping trips.
Also, climbing into the backseat is really tough on the 2DR. You might not have kids, but you probably have friends & every now and then you might want to take them somewhere.

You'll get some hate from your local Jeep club if you have the 4 door version. I get all kindsa joke "Minivan" "Short Bus" etc. But that being said I love my 4 door and take the jabs in stride knowing I can haul 4 people comfortably as well as their gear.
I'll tell you this, having the 4 door came in handy when I had to help my GF move twice this year. It's never been a problem off road but I don't have nearly as much time off road as some people. You wanna see some cool pictures of 4 doors off road look up Wiredawg's pictures.

The 2 DR is more maneuverable in tight spots off road, due its size and tighter turning radius and it costs a bit less. It also feels a bit more like a toy and can be a tad more fun to drive. It is also lighter.
Almost everything else favors the 4 DR:
Road Manners
Resale Value (demand for 4 drs is higher)
Cargo Space (Something besides will your dog will fit in the back)
Fewer mods *required* whenl lifted
Better for clearing large obstacles offroad
etc,
etc,
etc
So just choose what is more important to you.
BTW, You can laugh at the members of your Jeep club as they buzzing, bouncing and drifting on the highway in their TJs, YJs and CJs on the way to your favorite wheelin' spot

I have owned two different 2-door wranglers in the past. I liked both of them for all the above reasons. Now, years later I got back into the club. I was still considering another 2-door but decided the extra space would be nice as well as the extra towing capacity.
Having bought the 4-door, I would never go back. I absolutely love it!

Have you Test Driven both of them, and played around in the Cargo Area yet? Best advice I can give, is to Drive 'em both, take the Soft Top down (if equipped...), and see how much room you've got available in the 2-Dr and 4-Dr versions. Try getting into the back seat in the 2-Dr, and see if you or your future passengers will be losing some skin, or getting bruises, just hopping in.
Next, if your Dog is going to be a regular passenger in your Rig, and you plan on going Top Down/Top Off during the Summer, you may want to look into some Webbing Straps for the rear area, to help keep Poochie safe.
If you go 4-Dr, MAKE SURE YOU DON'T ACCIDENTLY BUY THE 2WD/RWD MODEL! YES... there actually is one! Also, if you get the 4-Dr, might want to Upgrade your Gears to at least 3.73 or 4.1, before you leave the Dealer's Lot, if you plan on Wheeling on the Weekends!
To help you decide a little easier..... either one you choose, will be the RIGHT ONE, as long as it's a JEEP!

Best of Luck!
Cheers!
BB
May or may not be a consideration but consider that you'll likely fall in love with your Jeep and keep it for a long time. I dont' know your particular situation but maybe your family may grow in the future. In which case you're gonna love the 4 door!

I love my 4 door, the ability to fit 5 people comfortably (3 kids in the back) and perform equal to a 2 door on the trail is priceless. At Rausch Creek over the weekend a buddy with a 2 door had issues on the trail and I was able to fit all his gear along with mine and still haul 4 people home. Couldn't have done it if I had a 2 door. Overall it allows me to have one vehicle to play on the weekends, haul my kids around and get back and forth to work.
BTW: once you lift and add 35's no one will give you any grief for driving a "short bus" or "mini-van" any more. The 4 door looks like a beast with 35's.
