Me, I'm getting a 2-Door but.... I have to admit that the 4-Doors look pretty nice too
Should I have them weld the back doors shut?

We're so glad we bought a 4 door. It's perfect. We have a CJ7 but it's too small with two teenagers to haul all our gear for a three day trip comfortably. Oh I'd love to have a better dome light but that's really my only bitch.

I had to get a 4 door, b/c I have a son, and my girlfriend and I like to go moutain biking and kayaking. I had a 99 wrangler when my son was born, but decided I needed something bigger and safer, so I had to get rid of it in 2000, and i've been trying to fill that void every since... had a few Xterras, but it wasn't the same, every day i'd see a jeep and i'd be sad, every sunny day i would remember the top off and how free i felt.... then one day i heard of a 4 door safer wrangler... and i knew i had to have one, it was my calling, it was made just for guys like me, we lost our freedom for one reason or another, but now we can have our freedom back! and the best part is I can now share that freedom with my little dude! he even missed my jeep, he would always say "look dad, there's a jeep!! Your jeep was bigger then that!" haha, he last saw my jeep when he was a teeny lil' dude, so it was huge to him...

sorry for rambling, but I've never been more excited about a vehicle in my life!

Default 4 Door Rubicon only way to go

When I was a single 2LT in the Army I bought my first Jeep. It was the first TJ Sport in Clarksville, TN. I loved that Jeep more than any thing else on wheels (I had been wanting once since 16 when my father talked me out of a used CJ-7). I drove that Jeep until I had a daughter and ended up being a single dad.

My hearing is bad enough, no way I was going to keep my 5 month old daughter in the back of a soft top Wrangler, she'd be deaf now. Anyway it sucked selling it and I bought a Pontiac Grand Prix GTP. I kept that for a couple of years and then deployed to Iraq (still single). When I got back from my desert vactation, I got married and dropped a crap ton of cash on a Nissan Titan. I loved the truck, but seemed to get all misty eyed when a Jeep drove by.

Then one day I say a Jeep Unlimited... I was so excited I almost drove off a road... a Jeep, but a practical Jeep. Fun, off-roadable...with cargo space for all the accoutrements that seem to go with a kid.

Finally I got orders to go to Korea. I was able to swing a command sponsored tour, so my family is with me. Anyway, it is crowded here so I decided to sell the Titan, and at the last moment my wife decided we should sell her Mini Cooper. Once we got over here I bought a '94 Daewoo LeMans for $300 and a '94 Kia Sephia for $700.

Then one day I saw it... THE WRANGLER WOULD HAVE 4 DOORS IN 2007!!! HOLY CRAP... This is all I have wanted since 2000 when I sold the TJ. I made up some concoction of a story about the cold and worried about an unreliable '94 Korean car with no airbags and how this would be so much safer, and practical...

Some how the wife bought into it. I now have a Red Rock Crystal, 4 Door Rubicon on order with the Exchange Military Car Sales. Since I didn't ship a car over on my orders, this will get shipped to me for free. I CANNOT WAIT. I have not done a lick of work since ordering it, however I can quote from this website verbatium. I only hope I have the first 4 DR JK Rubicon in the Feakin' Country. That would be quite a badge of honor to such a Jeep embasador for an entire nation.

4 doors for me! No kids, but I need room for all my crap-I road trip with my kayak and mt bike on the roof, so the back is usually filled with camping gear, paddles, and other related junk. I also like that there is room for me to sleep back there. That will cut dramatically on hotel bills!

I would suggest here that all those saying a 2 door version is a Jeep and that a 4 door is not are missing what is the real thing. JEEPS are a culture! Not a vehicle. Wrangler owners are just one part of that culture. CJ owners are another sub-culture, but at a gethering we are all jeep people!

There are many die hard, will die driving a jeep, jeepers like myself who, grow up, get married, have kids, that are still die hard jeepers!

So what does a die hard jeeper do with 2-3 kids and a wife who also likes to go on trail? For a whole day....... With a TJ? YJ? well? A 2 door is just to small, period!

Some will say, being uncomfortable is a "Jeep Thing". I would say thats being masochistic for no reason. I want to go on day long trails and so do my kids. Need to bring food, beer, supplies, change of clothes for my kids, oh yeah an arb fridge / freezer to keep my beer ice cold for the end of the trail! Oh, hmm I forgot, gotta put most of my stuff on my Top Five Rack, great for deep woods offroading , mud and or off camber tipping with my Black Diamoond XCL kit on my YJ.

So DC finally gets it. They produce a 4 Door Wrangler! Wow a family Wrangler! I can still be a jeeper!........................................... ............
Holy Crap that was close, I thought I was going to need to by a Toyota FJ or 4 runner .... I have night sweats just thinking about it! Loosing my Jeep Family! Wow.

Hmmm so lets sum up here. Driving our new Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon 4 Door in Rescue Green, our very comfortable family is swarmed by people everytime we stop who wanna look at our very comfortable JEEP and all its room, we still get and give the JEEP wave which makes me think we are still family and that some of the family just dont like the new relatives yet!

I predict that DC will have great success with the 4 door version taking market share from their competitors of people whose requirement is a larger offroad vehicle which ruled out jeeps ...... until now.

PS. I will still keep my Extreme YJ for extreme fun (for 2 people) and will play with the 4 door with the family. Stay tuned for offroad feedback......

So far as I'm concerened, the new 4-door JK is every bit as much a Jeep as the TJ, CJ and an XJ that I currently own.
