2 door or 4 door... that is the question
So the wife and I are thinking about expanding the family which begs the question do I keep my '12 2 dr (Sport, heavily modified) or opt for an Unlimited admittedly this is something I should have considered when I first bought it. I love my 2 door and we also have a '14 GC but we'd really never be able to go anywhere which my Wrangler with a dog and kids in tow. I have the AEV bumpers (front and rear w/tire carrier) and really love them so those would likely be transferred over to a new Jeep along with sPOD and accessories, heck I might even rip out my Pioneer navi HU/backup camera and transfer that over too.
I went to the dealership today to take a look at the Rubi X and see what my options are. I really like the power dome hood; we priced out a regular Rubi loaded up with a bunch of goodies and the price wasn't too far off the X, and after adding the cost of buying/painting the hood post factory it really didn't make sense to go that route. I was hoping they'd be interested in swapping out the bumpers and wheels from the Rubi X onto my current rig and hopefully adding to the trade value, but they would prefer I take it down to stock (leaving the lift) and offered my 21k (I though this was quite low as I have only 12k mi on it... we didn't negotiate yet and I'm sure there's a bit of wiggle room there). I'm not looking to entirely break the bank with the transfer (though it seems like I might) so here are the options as I see them:
1. Take current rig down to stock (leaving lift) trade and buy new Rubi X and sell bumpers and maybe wheels if I can procure a cheap set of Sport S stockers. Lift the new one and put on 35s (currently have 33s).
2. Buy the Rubi X swap bumpers and wheels onto current rig and sell current one on my own. Lift the new one and put on 35s. This one would require the most work/financial risk on my part tying up a significant amount of capital until I get my current one sold. I don't mind doing the work, but I'm not sure what I'd get for the new setup, though I'm sure it would be more than what the dealer is offering me.
3. Leave current situation as is and not use the Wrangler for anything family oriented or strap a child seat to the roof or hood
(85lb lab takes up entire trunk area when the seats are folded)
Any feedback on this one would be great! Thanks.

andi just don't think id iver buy a sport again after owning rubicon right out of the gate your ready to rock!
2 door
and seeing you built your sport up already id keep the sport two door save your money save the agrivation and just put the seat in back

Let me add a third option, keep the 2dr and buy a cheap commuter....The kids will love the Jeep on the weekend and during the week when you are in a rush, use the commuter.....worked for me but my kids were a little older. When my oldest got her license I gave her the commuter.

Well, I almost upgraded from a 2dr to a 4dr to fit my 45lb dog more comfortably LOL! so I hear ya on this, so I would say go for the 4dr!!
Just the cargo room when you are wheeling is worth it. Kids come with a lot of stuff (at least I've been told)
