If you own a Wrangler from the 2007 through 2012 model years, you could be looking at a recall in the near future.

Patiently waiting for an answer on this. I don't want to pay to fix this. My light has been on for a year!

You should go to nhtsa and file a formal complaint. I did that with the power steering pump on my wife's mini. I paid $620 for a new pump and put it in myself. About two years later enough people complained, and They ended up extending the warranty. BMW reimbursed me for the $$ I spent.

The clock spring is garbage. Mine failed at about 38K mi, I haven't replaced it. Maybe we'll start to finally get them done under recall.

I FINALLY, after a year and a half, decide I should be safe, now that I have a baby and all, and get my clock spring replaced so if I got in a wreck my airbag would go off. Got it fixed...this Monday (6/22). I hope they refund my money I just put into fixing this problem.

Default My '08 just started acting up.

On mine, the chime goes off and the red airbag light comes on. Then it goes off. Then it comes on again. It happens over and over. Does that sound like the same problem you guys are having? Is it the clock spring? I have 44,000 miles. Does anyone know a way to easily dis-able the chime? That's the part that'd driving me crazy.
Thanks.

Same, it's a symptom anyway. It's the poor connection in the clockspring when the wheel is turned that causing the fault/chime on/off.

The other recalls I have seen address reimbursement if the subject repair has already been made.
