Replacing just the filler tube with the bad check valve is a lot simpler for the dealer mechanics, and greatly lowers your risk of having the nightmare my tank replacement turned into.

This is what my dealership is doing. They just got the part in and I take my Jeep in Tuesday, but the service manager told me they do this instead of replacing the entire tank.
