Default 2007 Jeep Sahara

So after I bought my 2008 Sahara my cousin has been looking for a Jk. It would be his first jeep and so far he has found a 2007 natural green auto Sahara with 34000 miles with a soft top. Every thing inside seems to be in great shape, no scratches on the dash and no stains on the seats or floors but there is a smell of cigarette smoke and it looks to have the smoking package in the car. The outside as well has maybe one or two scratches that are barely visible. The listed price is for 22999. He's thinking about buying it but wants to see if he can get it for 19000. I'm thinking that he should be able to since I talked the dealer down 4000 when I bought mine. Also I told him to make sure he looks over the jeep and any bring up any imperfections in a effort to make the deal. Does anyone else think that he would be able to get this deal and what are some other things to look for when purchasing a used jeep.

Thanks again!

2 door or 4?

I got my 08 Sahara 2 door with 17,000 miles for $19,000 and it has a hard top and it doesn't smell like smoke. That was from a dealership.
I think he has some room to push them around on price.

34K miles. 2 door. soft top. Sahara. smells like smoke.

Brand new sticker price, my: 0 miles, 2 door, soft top, x, without power anything was 26K. and didnt smell like shit on the inside....

I think your buddy has a lot of pushing room. I'd walk in there and say 17500 or even 17K. and when they come down a bit, you go up maybe 300 bucks at a time.

Say they come down from 23K to 21. You go from 17500 to maybe 17800. they may come down to 20, you go up to 18250. Then they might meet you at 19K where you really wanted to be...even then, if they come down to 19K...try going for 18500.

Be pushy, and remind them that it smells like poop and that you are sure you can find a better used vehicle out there for a cheaper price.

I too have an 07. One nice thing is that there is no TPMS. My 07 Sahara also came with 4.10's

I know California pays more. I bought my 07 Sahara with 9,000 miles on it for $23K out the door. Remember, our tax rate is almost 10%.

Default No Luck

Well we went to the dealership today to see if we could haggle a price but with no success. As I mentioned dealer price was 23,000, we test drove it, pointed out some imperfections in the jeep and when all was said and done the dealer only came down to 21,999. I think that that is absolutely ridiculous that the dealer could not meet the offer of 2000 down and payments of 300 a month which turns out being about 18000. The dealer also said that everything we pointed out was only minor stuff that can be "buffed out". I don't see how hinges that the paint and metal are bubbling and faded bumpers are going to buffed out and how a soft top can be fixed to sit right with only detailing work. Offer stands on the table at 18000. Dealer also tried to tell us the cars Kelly blue book value was 24000 which is right for a 07 JK in Excellent Condition and this jeep was in Good Condition. He pretty much shot down any pushing room that we had... Maybe we'll get a call back in a few days when the realize they are not going to sell it and hopefully by that time we find a better deal.

Additonal: Also the mileage was 36500 not 34000 so this jeep didn't even have a warrenty

I take that as Fates way of telling you its not the right one.

Don't fight fate/karma/the grand circle of stuff. There are a ton of used, clean (not perfect) Jeeps out there. The right one will come along.

Last April ('09) I bought my '07 4dr sahara w/dual tops, 16,000 miles for about $20k. The dealer was asking $24,500 for it. We haggled for about an hour before reaching an agreement. There's always wiggle room. Don't EVER settle. There will always be others.
