I have a 2008 JKU and love it, but I'd recommend getting the '13 simple because it is that much newer with a better engine.

I have a 2011 that had the 3.8 and I hated the insane lack of power. Hated it more because my wife drove a 2013 with the 3.6 so I could feel the difference every day and it sucked. I wish I had gotten off with only a 4k difference but after a supercharger for a year (also sucked) I finally gave up and dropped in a 6.0l V8. I can honestly say that I would have not spent the money on either if I had the pentastar motor in the first place (not that I am unhappy now with my V8 Beast LOL).

Default 3.6

The dierence between them is fantastic! I owned both an 07 and now a 14, both with the same 3" lift and tire setup . Go for the 3.6 please!

It's not the motor as much as it is the transmission, for that alone i would get the newer one.

Well, the 40 extra horsepower and 10% better gas mileage is nice. And I assume that is from the motor.

It's from both. The extra gears in the transmission don't make the engine work as hard.

Yes the 40hp is nice but its the trans that make all the difference.

The gas mileage is debatable. I've always gotten better mileage out of my 3.8 at the end of every trail than those with a 3.6 running a similar setup. and pretty much the same if not better on the freeway.

83 more horsepower. 3.8 has 202 and 3.6 has 285.

yeah but thats 202hp at 5200rpm vs 285hp at 6500prms

I'm not saying the 3.8 is better, its the trans that really making the difference IMO, unless your reving to 6500rpm all the time.
