Default 2010 Build question

I have a 09 X with some very minor mods. I have a MBRP off road exhaust, rock rashed 17x9 Cepek DC-1's. Tey are not rock rashed too bad, one is but that is from throwing the tire off the rim at RC back on black Friday.

So my question is this. What would be the best investment going forward?

Bigger tires for the current rims OR a new wheel/tire set up?

Here's the story...
I currently have the standard Rubi BF Goodrich rubber on them, but the issue is it is a 10in tire on a 9 inch rim and it is not offering much in rim protection. I am getting a 2inch lift early in the new year, so I can go with a bigger tire.

Should I invest in new tires for these rims, (4 look great still, can cover the spare), or invest in some cheaper rims and tires as a package? I am leaning towards just buying some 33's or 34's for the current rims and live with the rock rash, it's going to happen again I am sure.

If I invest in the new tires and keep the rims what would be a good tire and size?

I know I won't get bad advice from this site...thanks in advance!

If you are just going to thrash the rims again, why don't you keep the current rims until they are really bad.

If you go with a 12.5" or wider tire you will get better bead protection. There are plenty of tires in the sizes you are considering.
