2012 Arctic Edition Cost
Can someone please explain how this package is a $3,999 option?
Painted hardtop is $980
Heated Seats is $250
Slush mats $55
Fuel Filler Door $125
Tail Light Guard $125
TOTAL $1,535
Swapping out the wheels and tires between a Sahara and a Rubi is a no cost swap for Chrysler.
The red shocks swap out is almost a no cost swap for Chrysler.
Chrysler saves money by deleting the painted bumper guards that come standard on a Sahara.
So for $2,464 more you are getting the Yeti accents (stickers, piping, badges and logos)?????????
What am I missing????? In my line of thinking these things are going to just sit on the dealer lots.. If it was a low cost package built on the sport ok.. it would be quite a bit cheaper and in a kids price range. But at 37k-41k you no longer in kiddie land.

The 2012 COD is also kinda over priced $6,500 option, but you do get the AEV bumpers and hood... Those three alone are worth $3,000...
The 2011 COD was only a $700 option, but then again it was just stickers and painted wheels......
To me the Arctic Edition should have been built on the sport like the Mountain and Islander Editions were.... A cheaper starting point and then priced realistically....
I love the Winter Chill color and if they make it available for other models I will probably exchange my wifes 2007 Sahara for a 2012 Sahara in Winter Chill with the $980 painted hardtop option... But I ain't paying another 3k on top of that just to get Winter Chill.....

a few bucks extra for black moabs, bfg km 2's and rubi shocks and springs
a couple more for the half leather seats with orange stitch, i come up with $400 for fuel filler door and tail light guards. this is based on $800 for black appearance minus $400 for black side steps that come with the sahara. now throw in a priceless black square sticker on the hood, yeti badging, seat patches and logos on the the gauges and some white plastic trim proprietary to the arctic and you get your $4k value!
i believe silver bumper trim on the saharas is a plastic overlay.
anyway with that artic in kinda overpriced. believe me first hand, i'm getting mine tomorrow. i'm not one to be wise with my $$ but this one did fly off the lot. came off the truck yesterday.
rubi=better bang for the buck but i'll never use lockers, disco's or need 4:10's
Hmmm, I hope so. I have an idea for a Winter Chill Rubicon, but I emailed my dealer yesterday who said Winter Chill is only on the Arctic Editions. Hopefully he just is behind the curve on the info.

Well, the fact that it's a limited edition model alone makes it more valuable.
Then you've got the different interior (something you can't get on any other JK, right?)
Then you've got some nice options that aren't a part of any other "normal" packages available with the JK.
Then you've got a sweeet color that you can't get on any other model and it's a pearlcoat color which costs Chrysler more.
So yeah, there are people out there who would pay extra for this (and will). The arctic editions won't sit around for long, IMO.

the body color hardtop runs $1715 when you delete the soft top on a sahara ($890 additional for duals)

I agree with all of you. But what should Jeep (or Chrysler) do? At least they are being creative rearanging packages and content to match what people are doing after the sale. Sahara represents a large portion of their sales...Why would they build a lower price model and lower the average sales price? Sure they could turn them faster but it's not like they aren't building everyone that they can (based on worker comments and Automotive News)
You all forgot the SWEET patch you get with the brochure at the dealership!
