This will be a cool fantasy build thread, but don't cash out your nest egg just yet. When the year went from 999 to 1000, people were sure the world was comming to an end. When the year went from 1999 to 2000, people were sure the world was going to end. Now 2012 will be the end of the world according to the Mayans? I could be wrong, but I don't think it will end. Unfortunately, it seems to be human nature to expect the worst. (& beleive every stupid thing they hear) All the Mayans said, was that it's the end of the cycle. The Mayan calendar is cyclical and would start over if there were anyone left to make a new one. It's just the end of the calendar. If you're reading this I assume you're still alive, which is amazing, because our calendar ended 6 days ago. Our calendar (cycle) ends every 12 months, & the earth hasn't exploded yet. Even Mayan descendants don't think the world will end in 2012. They aren't concerned about it at all. There is, as AZJeeper pionted out, a galactic alignment that will occur on that date. I find it fascinating that an ancient culture had such precise math, that they could figure that out. But that's not unheard of throughout history. Many ancient cultures knew how to do things that modern science still can't figure out. I'd love to see some JK's built up for this scenario, or any survivalist scenario for that matter, But I don't believe that "The sky is falling".
