Default Is the 2012 JK that much better than the previous ?

I have a 2010 Rubicon JKU , and I have a rare color which I really like . Now , for fun , I went to the dealership to see what I can get for a trade in and they offered me 29000 towards a 12 . In my opinion , that's pretty good , but is it really worth the trade ?

Subjective question. Drive it yourself and see.

I haven't driven one for fear of wanting to trade but there is a considerable power difference. If I really liked the color I would wait and see what colors are available for 2013. The 2013 thread says there will be a color called Anvil.

Don't drive one until you are ready to buy! I drove a friends new 12 a while back and it was nice. For me it wasn't the new engine as much as the new 5 speed auto. The first gear is lower with closer ratios and not as tall of an overdrive. It is much better suited to the Jeep than the pos 4 speed auto in mine.

Yeah , a guy a ran into at a coffee shop told me that the auto's is where it made a big difference . I have a manual . I actually test drove an auto 12 , but didn't want to make a comparison to the manual . My other option if it's just about power is a supercharger I guess

Maybe....
Since you have a manual and 4.10's already...the difference isn't that dramatic.

But...it would be a new warranty and an upgraded interior (if that matters).

I went from an 07 JK Manual with 4.10s to a 2012 auto with 3.21s. I didnt expect much, but damn these things have a ton of power. I threw on some 35s my buddie let me use for few days and I still didnt feel the need to re gear. It had plenty of get up with 35s and 3.21s and on the highway it just keeps going. Didnt get sluggish at all.

The A/C and Heater work a lot better. You can def feel more torque even with the auto. Im getting 21 MPG AVG ECO with 32s and a 2.5" lift. Its hard to explain but it really feels like it runs soo much better than my old 3.8. I love the interior, its nicer but not too nice to where you feel you cant get it dirty. Everything about this jeep honestly makes you feel like your finally paying the right price for Wranglers. You dont get the feeling of paying too much for the 3.8 and its sluggish performance. I dont know about you, but when I drive to trails in the mountains, I hated the 07jk struggling to do 60 on an incline.

So from being an owner of both. Id say yes, the 2012 is better.

I had a 2010 JK Unlimited Rubicon Automatic in a Deep Water Blue. I loved that color and said I would never get rid of it until...
I drove a 2012 Unlimited CODMW3 Automatic. Felt like a huge difference and I traded. Then the big test was how much better the 2012 would pull our camper vs my 2010. It was a big change. The 2012 had much more power and pulled the camper with ease. Even up steep grades where the 2010 would just die, the 2012 easily would maintain speed.
I am very happy I made the switch.
