2012 or not?
I can tell you that my 12 is what the 08 should have been....
I only have 700 miles on it but every time i step on the gas and it actually can get out of it's own way..... I smile.... Both of mine were automatics.. I actually have to watch my speed to make sure I am not going to fast, instead of making sure I am going fast enough!!! This one is much better. The 4 speed and the 3.8 were horrible... Dont ever try to pass unless you are going down hill
That being said, from what i have read the 3.6 is going to be chryslers engine and the 3.8 is going away so one would think manufactures will switch to making parts for the 3.6. Plus for what they gave me for trade in.... You might be paying to much for 07-11.
I supose if I were into extreme mods and just 4wd the olded one would be an option.
Just my 2cents
For the folks with 11... Who knows what chrysler will do in a few years!!!

I had no problems with either my 08 or my 10, 3.8 engine was fine. Bothe were manuals, o8 was 3.21 and 10 is 4.10, not trading just to get a 12, I trade every 2 years anyway. if you get a good deal on a pre 12 go for it, there is nothing wrong with them.
my 2 cents...
This is a much bigger problem if your going with the Auto then the manual.
If your looking at buying only a manual jeep then they are a much more even playing field. If your buying the auto hands down the 12s are way better due to engine and gearing changes in the TRANNY!
Yes the manual still is better with the new engine, but the difference is not near as critical. In the end the cash difference is definitely a stumper, but if it were me I'd probably go with the 12 just because of the extra omph the engine does have.

Another thing to consider in upgrading to the 3.6 and all the improvements that come with the '12 is that the 3.6 is used across all the vehicle lines, the V V T makes it tunable to individual preferences, it is " flex-fuel " capable,
the 5spd auto with it's dedicated cooler is far superior as has been noted. I traded my 2010 JKU Sport and never looked back. The 0% financing for the difference made it an easy choice. I spent a day swapping stuff over and am happily planning for the future. I think in a few years there will be a sharp drop-off in the trade in value for the 2007-2011. Just my 2 cents.

yeah i know it would be better to have the new engine but is it that much better that i spend an extra 8 grand on it. and yes i am set on getting a manual. I have driven my dads JKU X 6 speed with 33s and 3.73s quite a bit and yeah i wish there was more power there but not enough to drive me crazy
