The rumored 5sp auto trans is supposed to be awd? So will it have a low range? Will it be the same as the part time system but just be awd prior to going into 4wd hi or lo? Confused..I have a 99tj which i will keep next to my new 2012 sport unlimited soon! I have lurked in the forum for awhile but am new..so hello and thanks for all the info received on a variety of subjects.

 

I don't know anything about a 5 speed, but that would be nice if it was for real and mated with a pentastar engine. The awd/4x4 issue is decided in the transfer case, not the transmission. AWD is just 4x4 with an unlockable, open center differential.

Now, if it is full time 4wd with a center diff that locks like the truloc differentials - that sounds very nice. But that would be all together about the most massive in model changes ever.
