I ordered my black forest green jk rubi on 10/01 and still don't have a VIN yet. The dealer told me I've got half of a VIN as of last week. Half a VIN?!? Seriously? Well, I guess 1/2 a VIN is better than nothing ;-)

They only make what dealers order (either for someone specifically or for their stock)... they can't even keep up with that; they don't make them just to have them sit somewhere in hopes someone wants that exact one.
With the new VOTS system it will supposedly tell you when your Jeep is in each stage of production (assy, paint, etc). Dunno how correct it is, but your dealer does that have accurate information about your build too when it happens.
