Default 2013 jku water pump broken already

One week ago i noticed a whining and chirping sound coming from the engine of my 2013 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited with only 10,000 miles. Having previously owned two Commanders and one 1973 Plymouth I immediately recognized the sound. Chrysler water pump. The dealer confirmed this but told me the pump is on backorder and would take a week, BUT that the mechanic said it was safe to drive my 2 hour daily commute for the week. I know better so i let it sit and borrowed a car.

The water pump finally came in Thursday. I called and scheduled my apt for Saturday at 11am. I got there and they had no record of it. Dealer said it may not be fixed until 5. Ok.. great. They called me at 3:30 and said they got the water pump on but when the mechanic test drove it the belt tensioner broke and the belt shredded, leaving him on the side of the road. Better him than me. Glad I didn't drive it all week like they said I could. Of course the tensioner is also on backorder and will take a week but this time they will pay for me to have a rental from Enterprise, when they open Tuesday.
-Disappointing.

The water pump bearing failure is not uncommon. It actually happened to me as well at 900 miles. The dealer first swapped the idler pulley.....then the water pump (I told them that it was the water pump...but they know better) Luckily they were able to find it locally and it was fixed in a day.

No they are not.

Mine went out at 40k.

Fortunately these Jeeps are easy to work on. Like anything, there are pluses and minuses.

Thinking I might be having the same issue. Started hearing this slight chirping/whistling noise when idle...Water pump or dirty pullys?

My 2013 JKUR began making the chirp around 9K, dealer told me it was the water pump. They also said that Chrysler had been advising them to replace the coolant for better lubricity?? So they did, and told me if I heard it again they would replace the pump. So I heard it again on the way home.......they replaced it a few weeks later after it came in from backorder and now I'm hearing the liquid gurgling sound from behind the dash (heater core or bleeder valve), no return to dealer yet.... guess this will lead me to another thread.
