Since you mention that, it seems like the hood has a steeper grade to it. Like maybe water will run of by itself now.

Instead of you always having to manually downshift to get engine braking, they put it into the software. Overall, the 2016 updates are really good. I'd take this ZF 9 speed in a Wrangler any day. Now, the 2014/2015 ZF 9 speed owners... I feel for them. So many problems.
I'm guessing yours works better than the one in the 2015 Chrysler 200 rental car I had a couple of weeks ago. It was an auto with paddle shifters. The flappy paddles were unusable, if you held the rpm past 4,100 it would auto up-shift on you (the redline was around 6,100) if you tried to downshift with the rpm anywhere above 2,500 (even if you had your foot on the brake) it refused. If you let it do its thing on its own, and it decided to downshift while you were braking on a down-hill, you got the pleasure of hanging out in neutral for 3+ seconds every time. The car only had 19,000 miles on it. Complete garbage.

I'm not particularly a fan of autos, but for the sake of the auto driving Jeepers I really hope whatever they put in the new Wrangler is better. That transmission was frustrating to the point of embarrassment.

That would be a smart move. Have you noticed the proliferation of cheap Chinese winches on pickups? It used to be winches, because of expense, were on vehicles that were actually driven offroad. But now they are a cheap mod for vehicles with "Off-Road" and "4X4" stickers plastered on them. Jeep may as well make it easy for the dealers to offer winches as a "cheap" upgrade.

Yeah much like lights, they're becoming a piece of jewelry.

I imagine a lot of that is the extra padding and matts that are on there to hide it from view

I can't help but wonder if this isn't that same chopped up test mule we saw before, just further modified to fit the chassis components, and they covered it up really well to get people guessing and generate more hype. To me it still just looks like a slightly stretched JKU wrapped up in a bunch of pillows and a blanket.

The only thing on this I've really been curious is it looks like that thing has a ton of frame rail showing. Almost like a JKU with a 1.25 or higher body lift. Which to me still makes me think it is that chopped up test mule. Or it might be their camo cover messing with me. Idk.

I do like seeing them running Duratracs. Good choice!
