Default 2dr Rubicon - Manual or Auto?

Im finally getting a 2 dr rubi and the dealership has exactly what I want but with a 6spd transmission. I have always had autos and I am wondering if there are any advantages or disadvantages with a manual. Thanks.

Go with the auto, especially if you are going to off-road it a lot. Though there are people who swear by the manual in an off road vehicle, it is only becasue of personal preferrence. I have sold Wranglers to many industry veterans and companies and they all buy auto trans vehicles for off roading.

I would go for the manual in a second, no wait less than a second!

Think about it, you get to choose when you shift, you get a little better m.p.g. and I think this engine handles at it's best with the stick.

The only downfall, if you could call it that, is you have something extra to think about when driving on road or off.

I think driving a stick is part of the fun of driving

I personally love driving manuals, but if I had to do over, I would probably have gotten an automatic because the wife is just not good at driving a manual and complains about it.

Each has its advantages.
Everyone has their own preference. And ultimately, that's all that's important.
Which do you prefer? You're the one who'll be driving it.

It really is a preference but the clutch and gearbox on the JK are pretty sweet. Maybe I'm old school but I also feel I have more control with a manual in dicey situations.

Thanks for the replys. I want to go with an auto but I dont want to wait until they find one. How long does ordering one take? Also are dealerships good about finding what you want?

No, you're better off looking for it yourself using Jeep's website. You should get what you want, so get the automatic.

Dealerships are best at selling you what they have.. You really should go wheel one of each before you decide. I love the auto for off road. I think you break less parts with and auto also. Thats just my opinion but if you have not driven them both off road how else could you be sure.
