Mine cracked in Oct of 08, it started out small and I watched it slowly creep across the windshield. Until one day in November, when I turned on the defrost and the crack went across the entire length.

I haven't had it changed yet, waiting till I need to get it inspected. I know the moment I get it replaced, I will take another rock or sand grain and get another crack.

Since the crack, I have taken several rocks off the windshield, none of which resulted in a crack. But if it was a fresh windshield, I am sure it would have shattered!

I'm on #4,, but I drive 120 miles a day commuting on the Pa turnpike NE extension,, several construction areas are windshield killers.. My service truck I use at work had been thru 5..
On my JK I changed the glass coverage to a zero deductable.. it cost me like $12 a year and collision claims due to road debris, animals(deer bears etc) hail.. do not go against your claim history. Which is good,, since I switched the ded to zero I've had 8 windshields (3 different jeeps) One deer hit, one bad $5000 hail damage(liberty) and got clipped by an idiot driver in the liberty.. That extra few bucks a year paid off..

Who is your insurance through? I might consider doing that, especially for only $12 a year. What about rock chips to the paint? Are they also covered?

When my '09 X was only a few weeks old, I got caught in a dust-devil on a gravel road and the blowing sand pitted my windshield pretty bad. I'm guessing that it'll crack badly over the winter.

I joined this club over the weekend. A rock/projectile of some sort was kicked up hit my windshield on the bottom edge.

I got to watch that start a crack and then slowly creep across the windshield for the next three hours.
