I have seen several guys mention having 4.10 gears in X's and Sahara's. My question is was this a factory option or have that many of you re-geared? I have asked 2 dealers here in Houston and I got stupid responses that basically stumbled around an "I don't know and I am not going to find out unless you come talk to me in person" kind of answers.

I don't see that it is an option on jeep.com, but thought I would check anyway.

 

In '07, 4.10s were optional on the X and Sahara and standard on the Rubicon. In '08, they are standard on the Rubicon and not available on the X and Sahara. The only choices for the '08 X and Sahara are 3.21s or 3.73s.

Not even in the tow package on the 08's! I'm a little pissed too.. My 07 had 4.10's and I wanted to have them again,, (totaled my 072 weeks ago)only option is the rubi for the extra $$

 

That really stinks, 4.10 is the way to go. I dont know how they could offer a "tow package" without them.

 

410s come w/the tow package on the 08s w/auto trans. They still suck if you have big tires and a lift. You will want 488s or 513s going down the hywy.

 

4.10 were nott an option in 08 with the tow package. 3.73 are the tow package in 08 even with the auto's. 4.10's only come with the rubicon. Sahara and X are 3.21 or 3.73 with the tow option. If you have an 08 with tow package, you have 3.73. Other wise 3.21.

 

if you put 35"s on your JK, you need 5.xx gears to get it back to "stock" performance...not that this is a performance car by any means, its about as aerodynamic as a brick.

your 3.73's or 4.10's will be fine wth 35"s. just downshift on heavy headwind or up hills.

i concur - tow package on the 08 has 3.73's. it would be nice to have the 4.10
s, but i'm not paying an extra 5-6k for the Rubi.

 

That sucks that they took away the option for the 4.10s
