Default 4H okay in heavy heavy rain?

Hey is it alright to use 4H in very heavy rain? Rain that if you are going 40 and all of a sudden hit the puddle it throws you off track a bit.

Hitting standing water at 40mph or thereabouts speeds will cause you to go off track a bit even with 4H; the effect may not be as prominent. But to answer your question, as long as you keep the speed below 60mph - 65mph, you should be able to use 4H.

Thanks I was using 40 mph as an example I just don't want to cause damage by using 4H on the street.

Personaly i dont use 4H in heavy rain unless i know im going into a somewhat flooded area "low water crossing". Then i'll kick it into 4H and laugh at the wake i just made and the fact that the car behind me isnt tailgaiting anymore.

4H is fine regardless of the weather.

Yeah, I think my manual says 50mph tops. But a few extra for a short while would probably be ok.

That must be an awful long and deep puddle if you need 4wd at 40mph!

4hi won't prevent hydroplaning.

Default tires tires tires

here in the ass crack of oregon it rains most of the year and 2wd or 4wd if your tires have to much air or the wrong tread your going to have problems, air down alittle to get more tire suface on the road and when selecting a tire see how it rates best fitting your location. eg. my mt baja's about threw my jeep off the road every time there was a drop on the road (ass crack of oregon standers apply) but my bfg km2's cut right threw. speed, water depth and road condition also play a big part too. good luck out there and remember you bought a jeep to overcome the elements
