Default 4WD.com bad customer service.

Dont know if this is the right place to post this, but I need to vent. I am a long time lurker on here and dont post much. I have ordered wheels, tires and other misc things from 4WD.com , my recent purchase was on Wed. afternoon EST. I get an email at 6:10am Friday for free shipping and 20% off. I kindly call the customer service line and explain the situation, and ask if there is a way to give me some kind of credit, I am told there is nothing they can do. The rep explains that if everyone who got an email for discounts called we would be doing this all day long... I know if I walk into almost any othe retail store, they would honor the discount in some way, shape, or form. I will NEVER do business with them again , and it seems to me that is pretty bad business. Please tell me if I am wrong!

Dude 4WD.com/ 4Wheelparts Sucks!! I have tried to do business with them and all I have got in return was resentful customer service, like I didnt deserve to buy from them...I will NEVER do business with them for any reason. Call Dave at Northridge, super nice guy and will solve all your 4wd problems/ needs. Just my 2 cents.

I have had this happen with other vendors before. I just explain the situation and ask 'them' what can be done, as canceling my order seems like a lot of work for everybody involved. Usually putting ownership of the situation on the vendor helps as they see that not doing it is then the long way around the barn and they feel that them concluding to just honor it is a choice they get to make. They fee they still are in control.

With that said, worse case you have to be willing to just cancel your order, and resubmit it with the coupon at a later date.

I also find asking to politely ask to speak to a supervisor under the guise that the person I am speaking with is probably limited to what they can do, also works. It shows sympathy to the person and that you understand their hands are tied.

In the end never make it personal, and just be willing to climb the ladder or cancel if need be.

I agree though that it should not be this hard. Vendors need to realize in a world where everything is becoming a commodity that customer service will be the only way to justify a higher price going fwd. People will pay extra for a good experience.

Good Luck

Do you mind PMing me your info, or an order number? I will forward this along to our customer service supervisor.

The sale was - "UP TO 20% off", so you may have bought something that was not on sale at all, therefore we have nothing to credit you. I just work in Sales, so I am not that up on all the new customer service policies that we have. But I am willing to help you in any way I can.

Yeah it would have been nice for them to give you the discount even though you ordered out of the window but I don't see where they are obligated to do so?
Exactly. Also if you did get the email, you should be aware that those offers come out all the time and you should have waited until you made your purchase.

Should dealerships honor the lifetime warraty on vehicles that were purchased before the start date. Should grocery stores honor a sale for stuff you bought a couple days ago then you get a flyer in the mail saying a sale starts x day? If so then everyone would be getting deals on everything they bought previously. Just something to think about. Oh well, that's life.

I asked about cancelling my order and was told I could not. I didnt feel I was asking too much, just to asess some kind of discount wether it be 5% or 20% or just free shipping. I am in the customer service business in the automotive field, and I would think that any business would like to keep a customer happy. I wasnt asking for free just some consideration. Mind you through this all I was nothing but plesant and never got angry, but did express my concern and explaind I would not do further business with the company.

While I agree with you, most retail stores will honor coupons when an occurance like this happens. For example I purchased clothing from JCPenny and a few days later I recieved a coupon in the mail for preffered customers, went to the store and it was no problem at all.

The items purchased were never questioned, we didnt get to that point, the rep denied me before my order # was given.
