Default ABU Dhabi fun?

Looking for the UAE connection. Im stuck in the area for about 6 months. Looking for some ideas to get out and cruise through the dunes. Anybody over here got Ideas for where to go? I dont ahve my Jeep with me so tours are ok.

when I say stuck, its because I am in the military and stuck at my deployed location and get to leave base once a month for a day. Its not a bad place, just a little boring.

That's a shame. So much history and culture and so little time to enjoy it. They should organize group tours and call it cultural sensitivity training.

you should have some sort of mwr rep over there and they would have tours available. when i was there in 05 i went on an afternoon dune run local dinner tour and it cost me about 30-50 dollors. had a good time on it and they did some crazy stuff in those toyota landcruisers out on the dunes. they also had a nice safety set up with a fully caged rigs.
