Default Adding a Freedom Top

I am in the market for a 4dr. Sahara. I have found one with only the soft top in the package.

I was wondering, other than the $2,800 price tag the dealer charges, if there are any other alternatives I have?

Any selling used?

Thanks in advance.

if you check the for sale thread you can usually find one used but keep in mind unless it comes from the factory you will have to wire the rear defroster and wiper. you can also search for threads on this forum on how to wire it good luck and happy hunting

There are a few on Ebay from time to time.
The only other thing you would need is the harness to run the rear defrost and rear wiper.

Another option would be to check with local salvage yards. The JK is so popular that there are already several in the yards.. If it's on the road, someone has wrecked one already.

Thanks for the quick replies!

I guess being that it is summer, I can wait it out until one comes around at the right price in the right location (NJ)

If anyone wants to get rid of one in my area LET ME KNOW!!!

I can't wait to get this car!

I had this done at the dealer and just be aware that there is more to it than just a wiring harness. The wiring comes as a kit and includes an entirely new HVAC dial set (with rear defrost button), an entirely new washer stalk (with rear wiper / washer control) and new tubing and connections for the washer fluid.
It's not a huge deal, but its far from just plug and play, since the dash has to be opened up and the ECU also has to be flashed to accept the new controls. Many people just get the Freedom top and never hook in the wiper and washer. My dealer promised it to me, so I made them do it!

I just finished installing one on a 2 door, it really was not that difficult to do the wiring, the instructions suck. But it did not require a flash for the wiper and washer to work, I don't need the defroster so I am not going to have it flased.

Same experience here. I talked my way into the hardtop and they had to pull everything from a Rubicon and install it on mine. It took about 3-4 hours in all.

If I were you, I'd just pay the extra to get the dual top group ($1600, if I remember correctly) and be done with it. If there's not one available, make them do what I had them do! You can always talk yourself into something that's not on the lot with a little work!!

2 door part number 82210215 If you find a place that sells tops they will indicate the wire package part number.

Same part number for 4 door
