I love the new wheels.
We are working on getting them powdercoated in a smoked clear coat over the factory silver and machined finish.
I am also getting the headlights, tail lights and side markers lightly smoked.
Going for a darker look to offset the loud green. Should look perfect when I am done.

Multiply that by the number of gear shifts... it would be some 200+ gear shifts, for crossing about 8 or 10 miles...
With a modern auto gearbox, I no longer see the advantage of a stick for offroading too.
I enjoy the driving, the landscape and the tougher trails, as much as I did with a manual.
I have as much control over the Jeep.
Oh -- and pressing the clutch (which isn't there) when it's under water, isn't a problem anymore...

By a small margin.
Driving style influences mpg more than the manual/auto difference.
Not a big difference, at least for my (loaded) 2.4 Tons JKU.
Rush hour go-&-stop, and slow offroading with lots of clutch use, would wear out a clutch long before anything in the auto gives up.
You're right in principal, but, IMO, the comfort difference outweighs the slight gains.
Like everything else, it's a question of personal preferences.

/ lighter
/ less to go wrong and just generally more durable.
