What would be the recommended psi to air back up to? I have 33" Falkens and I'm currently at 28 but thinking of going up to 32-34. At 28 my jeep seem to shake when driving anywhere. It's weird.

I run 28 cold in my 305/65R17 BFG M/T kms. Hot, they are about 32-33. Tread is wearing evenly.

The NHTSA estimates that blowouts caused by underinflated tires cause 41+ deaths and 1,028+ injuries annually...

That a pretty far distance at that low PSI. Personally, I would not.

You can pick up portable electric air compressors pretty cheap, Smittybuilt makes a cheap one and I believe Ive read about people getting the Slime one from Walmart. Going that far at highway speeds is dangerous and hard on your tires.

I was bad when I was wheeling in hot springs last spring break... wheeled for 3 days so drove back to my hotel every night air'ed down and sways disconnected. I took it slow and never went more than 30 or so and it was under 10 miles mostly back country roads and no highway.

Don't think I would do 40 miles at highway speeds though.

I run 315 70 17 on stock wheels and run 20-24 psi

I run highway and hit 95-100 and no issue.

As a dealer technician I highly recommend against this. The reason being, imagine a paper clip, you bend it back and forth and eventually it will break. This is the same thing happening to the tire sidewall. It may not blow out while your on that 40 mile trip but you've already weakened the sidewall. So now you go and sit right next to the tire and air it up with 30psi or more, it could blow then or when it heats up again going down the highway. I went to the outer banks this past week and didn't bring my compressor. I planned my offroad excursions based on that. I went out on beach ramps that was less than a mile from the gas station.

DON'T DO IT. Not safe and you don't know when or if the tire will fail. Plus tires are expensive, why damage one just because you don't want to take a little time and air them up or go to Walmart and buy the $30 slime pump.

But...but... lots of other people say they do it, and they have no problem...
